Subsidised Lasik Surgeries for Needy
Published January 2nd, 2006 in Discounts, NewsIt’s good to see Lasik eye corrective surgeries being subsidised for those who need it most, as seen in a recent news article on how firefighters and police officers were benefiting from a subsidised corrective eye surgery program targeted at Metro East residents.
Originally, the program was aimed at low-income residents in the Metro East area, but the September 11 terrorist attacks resulted in the program’s expansion in scope.
To qualify for the subsidised Lasik surgeries:
…participants must make less than $25,000 a year; be 20 to 55 years old; and live in St. Clair, Madison or Monroe counties. Police and firefighters are exempt from the income limitation.
Personally, I’d like to see an increase in poor people utilising this program, but it is rather obvious that even the subsidised cost for Lasik surgeries would be a hard hit on their budgets.

Can you help me…my wife needs the Lasik surgery bad and I found this page of subsidised Lasik for other parts of the country. Is it avalable in the south…we live in NC and are in need of the help. She is 100% disabled and I am only able to work a part time job (after being laid off in 2003 after 18 years of loyalty to the ‘company’). Please help us find a discount please.
Thank you,
Travis
